Furry Friday
In honor of my 30th Birthday last week...and my recent binge of old family home videos...here is a screen cap from my 7th Birthday. It was a sleepover with all of the girls in my class (bless my parents) and 101 Dalmation themed (I had gotten the VHS for Easter the week before haha) because of my obvious love of dogs and Disney. ;)
Forgive the grainyness...though I have to say the fact that we had a high end Sony camcorder in 1992 and you can now shoot insanely good quality on your cell phone that blows this out of that water is so intriguing to me.
Did you ever have a Disney themed birthday?

Furry Friday
A funny thing happened in our home Tuesday evening. Toby went on a hunt! He was on the hunt for a specific toy, which unfortuntely was burried in a toy basket. I must confess, over the course of being Toby's owner/mom I have used any excuse possible to buy him a new toy, typically of the stuffed variety. Christmas, obvious! Running into the store to buy some treats, sure! Browsing an online dog boutique, yes! Birthday, well duh! ...you get the point. I understand it may seem a bit oh, excessive, lol but I love him and gladly spoil him.
While he has a main little toy bin of his favorites in our family room, he has an overflow basket behind our main couch that he will occationally pull things out of, but this night he had his sights set on getting that darn floppy moose! He proceeded to drag his toy basket from behind the couch - tugging on the leg of said moose - and refused to give up on getting his prize. I did actually video tape this for my own amusement, because well - I love him and his funny quirks!
He did eventually dig it out play with it for a hot second - seriously, for all that work you'd think he'd be playing with it for the rest of the evening - but he was over it and went back to one of his usual favs within a few minutes. Below is a little timeline of events. ;)

Furry Friday
In some down time at work this week (shhh don't tell!) I started clearing out my gmail inbox account. I have had this account since I graduated college aka when my college email account was going to die aka I needed a professional email to apply to jobs...so needless to say it's um, robust. Haha. I have been putting this task off for some time, but with nothing better to do I figured, why not?!
I also have the darnedest time with unread emails for a variety of reasons, so I had been hovering in the 800s even after deleting my daily junk (aka shopping/fashion/news/ads/JUNK, etc) for some time slowly working my way down the hundreds as if go through some more recent stuff.
Today, however I am now hovering in the 200s (!!!!!) which is pretty huge for me (and I could still do a bit more clearing.)
One of my older emails is dated July 31, 2007 to my mom titled "Puppies!" - so I had to see what that was about. (Mind you, I came across emails as old as 2010 of dogs I liked on Petfinder that I would share with myself...as I'm always on the search for a companion for Toby. Unfortunately, others don't agree. lol)
Needless to say my day was MADE finding this treasure of a photo...Toby and his 3 litter mates. :)
This was taken on my *gasp* Blackberry Curve (I did enjoy that phone, it was fab for 2007) and I am so grateful to have it to snap this pic.
I often wonder who got his siblings (we almost walked away with Toby AND his sister) and what they're up to today. I wonder if they have any of the same crazy Toby traits, or if I actually causes them. lol. I wonder if they're all still in PA or if they too got moved across the U.S. for a change of scenery.
Regardless, I love my lil muffin and cannot believe he's going to be 8 this year! He will forever have a (very large) piece of my heart. <3
Do you ever think about your pets parents or siblings...or am I just crazy? ;)

Furry Friday
| haha! |
A crock pot is planned for Sunday - so don't worry, we will have food! ...at least that is always my biggest concern anyway. ;)
Enjoy your weekend - whether you're running in Disney, or enjoying the snow like me.

Furry Friday
Happy day after Christmas! On this day after, I will be spending the day with my fantastic Mom, as we brave the shopping mall to try and find some day after deals!
I hope yesterday brought you lots of happiness with your loved ones. I am so happy to have spent the day with mine, and am just happy to be on the East Coast enjoying this whole week with them.
Today, I'm sharing a Puppy Cam link! My boss has been fostering a Mama (whom she became a foster fail as she's already adopted her) and her 3 puppies from a great rescue group here in Colorado, Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue.
Last week she stumbled upon this gem on their website and shared it with the office - from playing pups to sleeping pups, I cannot stop watching!
RMPR Puppy Cam!
The countdown is now on to 2015...which also means my Disney Half is just around the corner as well! I cannot wait!
Are you ready for the New Year?

Furry Friday (12.19.14)
...for some reason this didn't post on the 19th so here it is a few days late!
I am SO excited to see my family - especially my Mom - mainly now that I can't just hop in a car and see them whenever I want to.
For today's Friday Furry, I'm sharing a lovely post from Bark Post regarding people being gifted a PUPPY. The hubs currently has an IOU for me in regards to us adding a 2nd furry member to our family (finally!) so I'm hopeful that one will be joining us in 2015.
You've been PUPPIED!
...I would love to be filled receiving a surprise puppy - the joy I would exuding would be cray cray. haha
As a note though, a puppy should never be frivolously gifted, as it is a big responsibility and life change. More importantly, please remember to not shop, but adopt for your new 4 legged friend as there are many, many, many well deserving animals in our local shelters and rescues that would love a new home for the holidays. No matter what size, color or breed - just check out Petfinder.com to find your new friend. =)
I also want to give a shout out to my Dad - it's his Birthday today, and I lost him this past summer very suddenly. It honestly still doesn't feel real, and given my distance from "home" I feel like I've been able to not have to truly face his death. This is going to make the holidays harder this year, but I know that he's still with me, and watching over me always. I got my love of animals from him, and I couldn't thank him more for it!
Love you Dad. <3

Happy Day After Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Relax in your Comfy Pants/Shop Til You Drop!
I hope that you had a wonderful feast yesterday, and a relaxing day with your loved ones. Today, I hope you're either continuing that relaxation - or shopping those deals at your local mall (or perhaps even online!)
I will be spending today traveling back to the Denver area, after a lovely mini vacay in the Mountains. More to come on this fun snowy escape later...
For today's Furry Friday, our friends at Bark Post have a lovely article about the love that our dogs have for us like we are their family. I know I can't wait to get back home to have cuddles with Toby - and I know how much he loves me (even when deciding to be a little pain in the tushy).

Scientific Proof That Dogs Love Us Like Family

So, if you didn't know - now you REALLY know how much they love you.

#Furry Friday
Today, I am linking to a hilarious post on BarkPost, entitled 11 Sure-Tail Signs Your Dog Is A Buttface.
While Buttface is not typically a term that I use to refer to Toby, trust me when I say many of the things mentioned in this post refer to some of our daily house banter - especially his love of ripping part his toys, and littering more than 1 room with fluff.
The lil pup featured is a cutie too, and even has his own Instagram account! Maybe Toby will be that cool some day, but until then, you can find my Instagram account here.
Does your doggie like ripping up their toys, or do they just enjoy playing with them "peacefully"?

| This is Toby's latest victim - his fluff can currently be found on and around our bed. |

#Furry Friday
I certainly hope this weather can rebound a little more in the next few days. While I am happy that we are back into double digits (YES!) it's still colder than my liking.
My poor little Toby isn't a huge fan of the cold either. While he does enjoy a good frolic in the snow, his poor little pads get getting cold quite quick once outside - no one needs those additional struggles when trying to go to the bathroom!
For today's Furry Feature - it comes again from Bark Post - is regarding Small Dog Parent's and the frequent comments that are made. Toby is about 20lbs, and most people consider him small (our landlords think he's big. Crazy, I know). I have certainly heard some of these things before - and can't help but roll my eyes. The GIFs are great though.
I hope wherever you are you're surviving the weather - I know the Northeast, my old stomping ground, got snow yesterday...but they didn't have our single digit temps! =P For those running in the Avengers Half and other races this weekend in Disneyland, I wish you the best of luck! I'm sure this new race will be a ton of fun for all those involved.
For me, I will (at least as of now) still planning on facing the elements with my hubby as we run tomorrow in some chilly teen/mid 20 temps for the Pumpkin Pie 5k! This will be a good test of running in the COLD moving forward as I get into the climax of my running training. 11 miles next weekend - I am praying for a warm up!
Happy Friday!

Week In Review
I tend to have a pretty good routine with running and a "cross training" schedule. Cross training being hot yoga. I'll speak more about that tomorrow (it's a wonderful thing!).
The beginning of September began the "Official" Disney Half Marathon Training, as supplied by Disney. This is based upon two 30 minute work outs during the week (Tuesday/Thursday) which I typically run on a treadmill after work and then a long run on the weekends. My long runs are just really gearing up - as my posted yesterday alluded to, I had 8 miles for my long run this past week, yikes! haha
Training Schedule (10.20.14 - 10.26.14)
10.20.14 // 5:30am Hot Yoga at Sumits Yoga (80 minute class)
10.21.14 // 30 minute Disney training session. I ran 2.20 miles on the treadmill, which MapMyRun counts as a 13:34 pace.
10.22.14 // 5:30am Hot Yoga at Sumits Yoga (80 minute class)
10.23.14 // 30 minute Disney training session. I ran 2.20 miles on the treadmill, which MapMyRun counts as a 13:38 pace.
10.24.14 // Rest day. I was contemplating running after work, but was worried about running out of daylight given my 8 mile goal. The flip side is, if I complete these miles on Friday afternoon, it frees up my weekend for more fun times with the hubs and pup!
10.25.14 // 8 mile Disney training session. This was a learning running for me. The week prior, I ran 6 miles and felt GREAT about it (and completed it on a Friday after work!). Going into this run, however, I suppose I didn't leave enough time between my late lunch and hitting the road (which I was nervous about again since I ran in the afternoon and chasing the daylight!) so I knew I couldn't hold off starting any longer, heading out around 4:30pm. I started off strong, but then it was all down hill from there - I felt like I had a brick in my stomach. It was painful, and it showed on my splits. I actually didn't even look at my splits until Sunday because I knew they were going to depress me, given how successful I had previously been. While the pain did eventually subside, the damage was done. There were MULTIPLE times I almost just threw in the towel, but decided regardless of the times, to finish it. Though I feel you can just see my deterioration throughout.
I know from here, it can only get better (and as my husband pointed out, I was below the 16 minute mile requirement for Disney...gee, thanks!) but it was still a bit of a downer given how well I have been doing based up my 10K a few weeks ago, and my 6 mile run last week. We can't all have perfect runs all the time, and it was a learning lesson given the late lunch I had (Wendy's!) and not giving myself enough time to digest and run properly.
I guess that's just part of being a novice runner, some things you just have to learn the hard way!
10.26.14 // 1.06 mile walk around the 'hood with Toby and my Husband. A Toby mile walk typically take about half an hour due to his avid sniffing. This one clocked in at 29:31 minutes.
Any tips for me as I get into longer runs?
